Cerebral Palsy
Rajini*(Female, 7 Years)
Rajini is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Her cerebral palsy is is spastic in nature and she has quadriplegia. She is also diagnosed with mental retardation. She showed delayed development in all areas. She was anemic and appeared mal-nourished. She was not independent. She did not like to move around. She was mostly confined to a chair. She would cry often. She would also hurt herself by scratching her face, biting her hand. She would also hurt others by scratching and beating. She threw things here and there. She did not like any one touching her and would resist physiotherapy. She was not able to concentrate on anything for long. Her comprehension was affected. Her speech was limited.
After: After 6 months of treatment she started to mumble and talk to herself often. She started liking holding things. Her comprehension improved. She is able to concentrate for longer periods of time and her sitting tolerance has improved. She is showing curiosity in all things around her. She likes exploring her environment. She wants to try new things, whether it is food or activities. She asks for things that she likes through gestures, pointing and one word statements. She appears happy and laughs more often. She does not hurt herself and others anymore. She willingly gets her physiotherapy done. She enjoys exercises. She allows people to handle her and is much more cooperative. She doesn’t throw things any more. She mingles with everyone. She recognizes, identifies and expresses her emotions with different people. She behaves differently with different people. She is moving around a lot more. She gets up with support and likes exploring her environment. She is fond of music and often gets up to dance for it. She has grown in size and looks healthy.
